Grade 9 AG Students are reading the novel The Stranger by Albert Camus.
Connecting to the themes of the story, students are reflecting on what brings them meaning in life, and the various belief systems/religions that they and their parents follow.
They are also practicing descriptive writing; learning how to write vivid descriptions with detail and clarity.
Soon they will be writing personal narrative essays about important events in their life.
Personal narrative essays are excellent practice for students to learn how to express their ideas, beliefs, values and goals in life. When they begin applying for university 3 years from now, they will utilize the skills they are learning now to write application letters, defending why they should be admitted.
