【Y10】Sociology~Conversation Circles

投稿日2025/5/15

The Year 10SG class have been learning about First Impressions as part of their Sociology unit of work. They are unpacking how we each see ourselves, how we see others and how we tend to make assumptions. It’s an interesting and difficult topic and it is full of grammatical challenges. One of the grammar points is auxiliary verbs, also known as the ‘helper verbs’.
To practice using this grammar in natural conversation, the students formed two circles, and each student was given a different printed question from the teacher. Of course, each question contained an auxiliary verb. The students took turns asking and answering the questions based on their own experiences, thoughts and feelings.
Every few minutes, the student circle kind of rotated, and they were faced with a new partner and a new question to talk about. It’s a fast and sneaky way to hide grammar drills into the learning process, and our young people enjoyed interacting in English, the beautiful sunshine and a small break from screens and books.
