From August 24 to 26, Y10 SG students took part in a three-day English Camp at British Hills in Fukushima.

Day 1:

The students travelled from Tokyo to Fukushima and explored British Hills, learning about British history and culture. They had their first English lesson, which focused on Debate, followed by a special dinner in the British-style dining hall. In the evening, they joined the “Connect” activity and enjoyed communicating with primary school students in English.

Day 2:

The students spent a full day taking English lessons and activities, including Treasure Hunt, Science, and World Festival. They worked together in English to complete challenges, build parachutes within a budget, and learn about festivals from around the world. They also learned British table manners before dinner.

Day 3:

On the final day, the students made shortbread while communicating entirely in English and visited the souvenir shops in Victorian Alley. They completed the programme and received certificates of completion. The instructors praised their listening skills and encouraged them to continue learning English through their hobbies and interests!
Finally, it was time to head back to school. On the way to British Hills, the students had been full of excitement and energy on the bus. On the way home, however, things were very different…Just five minutes after the bus left, almost everyone was fast asleep!
Overall, the three-day camp provided the students with many opportunities to use English in real-life situations, experience British culture, and strengthen their communication skills while making lasting memories with their classmates.
